Metaphorical Mazes

I was having a conversation about this with Una, and the Craig Thompson lover inside of me was begging to have it translated into a drawing. Unfortunately, I only know how to depict these themes in really obvious metaphors. Perhaps you will appreciate the hours I spent on the shading. =]
